The MAPS Minutes is back to publication. The MAPS Minutes is the voice of the pre-medical & pre-health student membership of the Student National Medical Association. It is focused on all thing pre-medical as a way to focus on issues relating to premed life ranging from personal statement tips, AMCAS / AACOMAS applications services, professional development, inspirational stories, etc. This edition, the “Back to School” Edition, focuses on premedical education as well as including an inspiration story from a medical student on his journey to medical school, and also a diverse list of summer programs and research opportunities that premeds should try to plan to pursue during their summer semester to gain experience that can help them on their journey to medical school. With many changes to the premedical curriculum due to the 2015 MCAT, it is important to immense oneself in a multifaceted background of knowledge to aide in the pursuit of matriculating to medical school. With the information in this edition as well as inspiration quotes and poetry from great thinkers before our time, we hope that you not only gain a wealth of knowledge though this newsletter, but also be inspired to continue on attaining your dreams. This edition also include opportunities for premedical students to gain national experience through the MAPS Committee, information about an opportunity to join the International Affairs Committee of the SNMA on their medical mission to Peru, and many, many more. We hope that you enjoy the Fall 2013 edition of the MAPS Minutes and feel compelled to help contribute to our future publications.
