Region IX: Go Hard or Go Home

Region IX includes all New York and New Jersey chapters of the SNMA. Our members are some of the most dedicated and passionate in the country. We work to address disparities in health care, minority medical education and the needs and progression of a historically underserved population. Region IX members strive for excellence in everything as exemplified in our motto, “Go Hard or Go Home“. Here is a glimpse of what we have accomplished for and with our communities in 2011-2012.

Region IX Social Mixer: Members came together for an evening of networking and fun!

Region IX SNMA & MAPS Joint Conference: “Healthcare Disparities: Closing the Gap”: SNMA and MAPS members from New York and New

Jersey united to participate in a Residency and Medical School Exhibition Fair, hands-on clinical skills modules, various workshops, and a networking mixer.

SNMA Region IX and Mentoring in Medicine, Inc “Yes, I can be a Healthcare Professional!” Conference: 1,800 community members of all ages learned about their own health, and how they could become involved in healthcare professions. In addition to enjoying performances and informative group sessions, they became active participants in workshops, a health fair, health screenings and a voter registration drive.

SNMA Region IX Walk for Healthy Living: Members of the local Bronx, NY community came out to learn about healthy living, and to exercise by walking and participating in an interactive Taekwondo session.

Special thanks to the Region IX e-board and all of our chapters for your tireless efforts!
